Travel history (location information)

What is location information and why do we ask you to send it?

Location information shows where your device is at a certain time.

If you log into the Google, iOS, or HUAWEI account connected to your device from another computer or laptop, you can see its location on an interactive map.

This makes it easier to find a lost device. For example, if you left it behind after a ride, we'll see it moving around in the car. We always ask you to share the device's location with us so we can compare the route of the lost device and the car.

How to send your device's location

Send it in the in-app chat or to support@support-uber.com along with the phone number used to request the ride and a message that the device is missing. Do not crop any screenshots, it's important for us to see when they were taken.

How to view and download location

If your device is lost:

Android
  1. Go to Google Maps on a computer or laptop in the same account of the lost device.
  2. In the menu, select “Chronology”. Enter the period.
  3. Go to Settings and select “Download data for the day as a KML file”.
You can also try the following to track your device:
  1. Follow this link on a computer or notebook to search for devices and select the lost device.
  2. Take a screenshot of the phone's location. Please don't crop it, we need to see the time it was taken on your screen.
iOS
  1. On a computer or laptop, follow this link.
  2. Enter your Apple ID and password. A window will open with a map.
  3. Select your device and take a screenshot, followed up another screenshot 15 minutes later, and a third screenshot after another 15 minutes.
Huawei
  1. On a computer or laptop, follow this link and log in to the same account used on the lost device.
  2. Select Find my device/Find my phone. Select the lost device. A window will open with a map.

The device's location will be shown on the map. If the phone has internet access, the icon next to it will be green. If not, the icon will be gray and its location unknown.

Windows

Use another device with the Windows operating system:

  1. Go to the Microsoft account page and sign in to the profile you used on your lost laptop.
  2. Select Devices → Find devices.

You'll be redirected to a map showing the last location of the lost computer.

  3. Click the device's name, and a menu will appear where you can view its last location and select the Find and Block options.

If you can't log in to your Microsoft account and there's no other way to track your device, you won't be able to view its location.

Smartwatches other than Apple watchOS (Tizen, Wear OS, etc.)
Smartwatches are usually tracked by the Find My Device app and similar ones. If it's impossible to see where the device is currently, the app will show its last known location.
